“We have lost the naming game before it started. Open any book anywhere that was published before 1990. Yugoslavia was made up of Six Republics: Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, Bosnia, Montenegro and Macedonia with Skopje as its capital.” says Fintanidis, former owner of Greek daily Eleftherotypia in an interview with DW.

“We seem to forget easily, or we don’t wish to remember… Greece was playing Yugoslavia in Skopje as part of football qualifications. Greece lost 4-1. No one, not our fans, or players reacted that we played in “Macedonia”, nor did the name bother us,” says Fintanidis.

“Where did this ‘outrage’ appeared from regarding Macedonia? We have foreign nations whether we’d like to admit it or not, who are laughing at us” added Fintanidis in his interview for DW.

According to him, Athens, but also Skopje needs to learn from their mistakes. He also says Greece would prefer their neighbor be called North Macedonia, but admits it’d be a tough sell even though Skopje is interested in finding a solution.

How does this moron Fintanidis know how the players felt? How does he know it never bothered no one? This Serafim is probably another guy with a Greek passport that is a traitor!!

Let me tell you how things should be done. First of all we need a small, twenty-Megaton Nuclear war-head, to wipe out all of you racist bigots. All the People in your histories are dead, and as such, all of you should be. Wake up to yourselves and live in todays world, and stop arguing over some goat shagging world of your past. Anyone of you that comes from or descended of those same goat-shaggers should get a knife and cut his own wrists, and do the rest of the world a big goat-shagging favour.
Aussie, Oi Oi Oi.

1st–O’Riley is it? What does Ireland have to contribute to the world other than potatoes? You have no idea of what you’re talking about because if you knew even a little bit of history you would know that the Greeks created civilization (democracy), theater, government, that helps you function as a society. And when you say “people in your histories are dead,” of course they’re dead, that’s what makes them part of history!!

2nd–“Soldier of Alexander the Great” and I use the term lightly. If you were one of his soldiers, you would have spoken and written to him in Greek, not in any other language. That is what the man spoke as did his forefathers and teachers such as Aristotle, and Plato, and Socrates. Greece and its alphabet existed way before other nations accused us of stealing. The Greek alphabet and its vocabulary is richer than that used by Macedonia. How can we be accused of stealing something smaller than what we’re using?

Greek alphabet is based on the Phoenician alphabet which existed long before the greeks.
