Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts (MANU) has not debated and has no position related to latest proposals for name row settlement mentioned lately in the media, Academy President Georgi Stardelov said today in Ohrid.
– At the moment I cannot present MANU position because as Macedonian Academy we did not debate this issue, but I can say that we have been seeking continuously as Macedonian Academy and as a science, a solution to this dispute and we are certain that what must not be changed in our name is the Republic of Macedonia, Stardelov said, answering journalist question on MANU position for proposal the Republic of Macedonia – Vardar.
According to him the issue what the politicians should resolve and not the science, is whether something else will be included in the name.
– Science knows one thing only that we are what we are for millenniums and it is completely illogical for scientific point of view to propose changes, some designations or any solutions that would be logical in the politics, because the politics is sphere of compromise and the compromise has no meaning in science, Stardelov said.
