If you’re planning a fun family getaway in the sun, why not travel to Greece or Turkey? Both wonderful destinations for youngsters, they each have something unique to offer people of all ages.

And by carefully planning your travel money to max your rates before leaving, you can really make the most of the currency you have during your trip.

So, where should you go: Greece or Turkey? With beautiful weather, amazing beaches and historical attractions aplenty, Greece certainly has lots to offer its visitors. Indeed, a trip to the famous capital – Athens – could be just the ticket for the whole family.

Athens enjoys worldwide fame for its marvellous, awe-inspiring ancient ruins, which visitors flock to view year after year. The Acropolis is an absolute must-see on any trip to the city. Perched on a hilltop, these ruins include the famous Parthenon and are sure to delight holidaymakers of all ages.

Indeed, there is nothing like the ancient myths of Greece when it comes to capturing a child’s imagination!

Of course, as fascinating as the ruins are, young children will undoubtedly still be keen to spend some time running around, so why not take them to the National Garden? This formerly belonged to the royal family, but now houses an enchanting zoo and several cafes perfect for treating the kids to an ice cream.

Another wonderful place to visit is Lykavittos Hill. It takes approximately an hour to walk to the summit, but once there you will enjoy astounding views over the entire city – something that’s sure to be a highlight of your trip.

Visiting Turkey makes for an equally exciting family holiday and there is certainly plenty to keep children entertained. Heading to the nation’s capital, Istanbul, you and your little ones can enjoy a range of attractions.

Just one of these is the Dolphinarium, which regularly puts on live shows featuring walruses, dolphins and belugas. Youngsters are certain to love the display, while over-tens will have the chance to swim with dolphins.

Meanwhile, for amazing views over the city, visit Gatala Tower. However, if you don’t have a head for heights, why not take a daytrip to Princes’ Islands – the ideal destination for cycling and swimming?

Wherever you choose to go, make sure you arrange your foreign currency exchange before travelling – and don’t forget to pack the camera!
